Law of attraction - My mood board 2019
Every year I try to put together a so called mood board. It's nothing fancy, just a collage of things I want to focus on during the coming year. Some of you may know about Law of Attraction and of course some of you might not. So let me tell you more about it.
Five years ago I was situated in Stockholm. I rented a room together with one of my best friends in southern Stockholm and we we're both there to work hard and play even harder. By that time I had an internship at the Ministry of Enterprise, being young and free I thrived in the dynamic high-achiving environment. I've always been a dreamer, I've always had big dreams about myself and my life, but let's face it, i'm impatient, i'm hella lazy and I always struggle to follow through. Luckily for me, I'm pretty aware of these things, so young me sat down, asked myself what I wanted to achive in my life and I figured that I was going to need something to help me focus. I remember how I went to the library and printed out these exact two pictures.
The White House in Washinton D.C.
Rosenbad, the seat of the Swedish Government
I took them back home and I taped the pictures onto the wall above my desk. I'd be looking at those pictures everyday for the coming years. Smiling a little bit everytime I thought of how great it would feel to be there.
Fast forward 6 years and I can say that I'm proud of myself for taking the step to study political science abroad at American University, Washington D.C. and then landing myself a job as a political advisor in the Swedish government. That's great. It's huge really.
When I did all of this I didn't know anything about "Law of Attraction". Nice terms like this doesn't really matter. What I'm trying to say is that the simple act of defining your goals makes you much more likely to accomplish them. Superstition aside, not saying it's magic or anything, nothing good will ever come to you if you don't work for it. How it works is that they’re constant reminders of what you want, and why you want it. Even the act of choosing the right texts and images helps to focus your mind, clarifying how you really see your ideal life unfolding. Creating your vision is a vital step on your journey of turning that vision to reality. The simple act of seeing things with your mind's eye, and feeling the emotions of those visuals, desires and aspirations, produces a remarkable effect in the human brain. Then it's up to you to make the "want" to a "will".
Goals can be anything. It's not about trying to get rich or die trying (it could be though), but it could also be things like falling in love, practicing self-love, be a better dad, be a better friend. Whatever fills your life with purpose. Just make sure you remember to take your time to focus on the things that makes your life worthwhile.
So this year, my mood board looks like this 😁:
- I will spend more time on writing my book so that I can get it published
- I will figure out what it is I love to do and make work out of it
- I will spend more time reading
- I will save for an apartment
- I will spend more time with my family
- I will spend more time singing
- I will practice more yoga/meditation
- I will get in touch with my roots by learning to cook more asian food
