Back in the suburbs

It's the day before Christmas and I'm finally getting into the Christmas feeling. Something about returning to the suburbs makes the holiday festivities feel much more peaceful and a lot less commercial. I like the fugly christmas decorations, the mismatching colors, the too much and the too many. It's not something that would fit in an IKEA-catalogue or on Pinterest. It's a mess, perfectly imperfect and I love it. Something about the flawed has always caught my attention. For it seeks not to be desired, it simply exist. I love the shivers in a nervous voice, the scratches on a smooth surface, the shadows cast on a sunny day, the wrinkles underneath smiling eyes.

Guess it makes me feel like home.
